In medieval society it is important to wear clothes in accordance with the social status, as well as the age and sex. Especially for a prince as King René, the garment is a tool of representation. His own clothes of velvet, fine linens and silks, as well as the servants of his maids testify to his wealth and power. In addition to a few foreign-inspired outfits, the refinement of the garment at King René 's court is mainly due to the choice of fabrics, accessories and jewellery. The end of the fifteenth century is experiencing an acceleration of the phenomenon of fashion in the upper socialclasses: the differentiation between the sexes is accentuated, a new masculine silhouette is born, with enlarged shoulders and slender legs, while for Women the attention focus on the bust. These are many tendencies that announce the fashions of the Renaissance. This presentation, which traces the evolution of the costume in the 15th century, can count up to 25 outfits, embellished with accessories. This exhibition was presented at the castle of Tarascon in 2015.
